The Dutch in Wartime Series of Books

‘The Dutch in Wartime: Survivors Remember’ is a series of books containing the wartime memories of Dutch immigrants to Canada and the USA, who survived Nazi occupation of the Netherlands from 1940 to 1945. Designed and written to be easily accessible to readers of all ages and backgrounds, these books contain important stories about the devastating effects of war and occupation on a civilian population.

The stories have been collected into separate volumes, each covering a specific theme or subject. The first of these volumes (’Invasion’) was published in June of 2011, followed later in the year by the second ('Under Nazi Rule') and third ('Witnessing the Holocaust'). A new volume will appear every three to four months. Readers can order single copies as they appear, or may subscribe to the series at a discount, thus securing the receipt of the latest book in the series every three to four months.

The project developed from a commemorative newspaper, ‘the Dutch in Wartime’, with the same theme (copies still available while stocks last, see below). So many impressive submissions to this commemorative newspaper were received, far too many for the available space, that this series of books was devised to conserve these valuable lessons of the past for future generations.
